Two-day one-on-one practical training

Learning outcomes
By the end of the course you will be able to:
  • Explain how solar PV systems work.
  • Identify the main components of a solar PV system.
  • Assist with the installation of a residential solar PV system.
  • Perform basic commissioning and testing.
  • Apply safe working practices.
  • Identify common installation faults.

Ongoing learning & guided field experience

Access course materials, wiring diagrams, checklists, practical guides and recorded walkthroughs for 12 months, with continued student support before, during and after practical training.

Visit a guided solar installation site to see systems working in practice. Practical training and site visits are scheduled by appointment and subject to availability.

Assessment & certification

Practical installation assessment and a short theory quiz.

Participants who successfully complete the course receive a StoneGrid Engineering Certificate of Completion – Practical Solar PV Installation Fundamentals.

This is a non-accredited industry training programme. It does not lead to a national qualification.

Training appointments

Five two-day appointments per month. Book at least four days ahead. No training on Sundays or South African public holidays; practical training and guided site visits are subject to availability.
